COVID-19 and lockdown has changed the way we behave, interact, study and work. The pandemic has also taken a mental, emotional and spiritual toll on many people. Having to wear masks, avoid public places and constantly sanitize your hands can affect your wellbeing more than you think. If you find that you are particularly wound up and suffering from more stress than usual, try employ some, or all five of these top stress busting tips.

Breathe and Stretch

If you feel anxiety or insomnia are getting the best of you, try find a calm and quiet spot and focus on breathing techniques. Sitting calmly and breathing in and out deeply has proven therapeutic benefits for your mind, body and soul. If you can employ a yoga flow or some gentle stretching exercises to this activity, you will get an extra dose of feel good hormones to help restore the balance you seek. If you don’t have the time to practice an entire routine, take a deep breath in for a count of 5, hold it gently for a count of 5 and breathe out for a count of 5. Do this with a few breaths and you can feel better automatically, whether you are at a desk, in the car or writing an exam.

Try a CBD Product

If you are looking for a natural oil or dietary supplement to get you through a crisis period, consider getting a CBD oil from blncdnaturals.com to help to help recover from anxiety episodes with a little help. CBD oil is created through a full plant extraction of the cannabis plant and contains cannabinoids which are said to be a therapeutic oil for relaxation, pain management and restoring inner balance. Place a few drops under your tongue when you need it or ideally before bed in order to get a good night’s sleep.

Be Kind to Yourself

Self-care during times of increased stress is imperative if you find you are struggling to cope. If you need a day or two in bed, do not beat yourself up about it. If you find you ate more chocolate than you should have, do not feed into the guilt trip. Allowing yourself to just ‘be’ is important when you feel like the balls you have to juggle are too heavy or too many. Never be afraid to say no to things that you do not have the energy for especially in social situations. Take time out for yourself at least once a week, switch off your mobile phone and watch that silly romcom you have been secretly dying to stream.

Get Out for Fresh Air

As tempting as it may seem, do not become a complete hermit. Ensure you get outside daily for fresh air and sunlight. The vitamin D boost will do you the world of good as will enjoying the best nature has to offer outside of your home, office or school.

Start a Journal

Chaotic thought processes can lead to a feeling of confusion and stress. Jot down your thoughts or problems and work your way to a place of feeling better and content through the process of journaling. It helps more than you think it does.

If you find that these tips do not do much to ease your anxiety or stress, perhaps reach out to a counsellor, friend or relative to discuss how you are coping. Sometimes sharing experiences with loved ones can do you the world of good, even if it feels like the world has gone mad.
