Marijuana Laws Past, Present & Future: Infographic
Cannabis laws have been is flux for the past two decades. For 60 years it was considered an illegal narcotic drug in the United States and since 1961 when the internationally recognized Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs was ratified by most developed nations. Individual states in the USA have begun to break away from the federal and international prohibitions, beginning with California in 1996. Now more nations have also started to drop cannabis prohibitions, starting with Uruguay in 2016. Now many states in the USA have approved legal recreational cannabis and even more have legal medical cannabis laws.
